4 SALE Charltons: (5) War Titles & Romance runs:

From: louis james (monsanto7@msn.com)
Sent: Tue 6/30/09 4:38 PM

Greetings:

I'm Louis James, down here in the Tampa Bay area.

You may know me as one of these:

INSTITUTE FOR ADVANCED MAGAZINE STUDIES, DELTA D GICLEE GALLERY AND DESIGN ATELIER,
TRANS GLOBAL COMICS AND MAGAZINES, RETROACTIVE INFORMATION SERVICES,
COMIC CRYPT AND MAGAZINE MAUSOLEUM, MONSANTO WESTINGHOUSE, CARSTAIRS BAGLEY, JR.,
& LOUIS COOK JAMES, JR., (WITH SHOTGUN SINCLAIR)

I'm luxxcorp, BLAM_BLAM_BLAM, King_of_Batch, llll, Sharpshooter, Panelologist, Hello & Ken Quinncannon. Actually, Kensington Quinncannon, Bruce Chambers, INTERSTICIAL OP, INTERSTICIAL OPERATOR and Ki11switch, (10th) tenth shill acct. & current CGC Forum Member.

Anyway, would you be interested in some of a Charlton War & Romance Collection of every title and almost every issue of all the Charlton romance titles? (Plus the Charlton war titles listed above.)

I'd like to keep the long runs intact, if not the complete collection, which is seven (5.5) archival long boxes. The unique aspect of these Charlton War & Romance runs, or the hook you can hang some hype on, is that I've been assiduosly upgrading them all since 2003, therefore; I have the copies in the best condition, ergo: top of the CGC census for hundreds of these.

Can we deal? I've emailed Heritage, (Steve Borock) Harley Yee, Lone Star, etc. and have received no response, as of yet. CLink is next if you turn me down. I need help. PLZ?

ow to Consign with EsquireComics.com
I am always willing to accept consignment arrangements for books that fit my niche inventory.
As part of my grand opening, I am currently offering the LOWEST consignment fee that exists anywhere!!!! Just a mere 7% of the sale price will be kept by me as a seller's commission. At some point in the future this will likely be modified to a sliding scale based on the sales price of the book. I do not charge a buyer's commission. Compare that to some of my colleagues (note: in no way should this comparison be construed as a criticism of either the seller or their professionalism):

Heritage Comics 15% sellers & 15% buyer's commission
FlyingDonut.Com 25% sellers commission (performs full service ebay sales)
Metropolis 10% seller's commission
ComicLink 10% sellers commission
Highgradecomics.com 10% sellers commission
Pedigree Comics 8% seller's commission
Unlike any other dealer/seller I know of, I do NOT require exclusivity. That means you are free to post your book anywhere else you like. However, the one caveat is that you must maintain an identical price.
I strongly prefer CGC graded books for consignments, unless it is a book valued at $1,000.00 or greater. For CGC books, there is no minimum price though there may be a grade requirement.
If you wish to discuss consignment opportunities, please contact me either via the telephone number or e-mail address above.

Shi is a fictional comic book character created by William Tucci for Crusade Comics. She first appeared in Razor Annual #1 (1993) and has run for over fifteen years with a variety of publishers. Shi is a young woman of mixed Japanese and American ancestry drafted into a modern-day "shadow war" between descendents of the infamous sohei warrior monks of medieval Japan. The story is deeply rooted in Japanese history and mythology, "Shi" literally translates to death (死) in Japanese, and her signature weapon is the naginata.

The series is known for its scenes of stylized violence, and originates from the era of comics sometimes called "bad girl comics". The series often touches on spiritual issues, especially as they pertain to Ana's dual background in the traditions of the yamabushi warrior monks, and Christianity.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Publication history

After her debut in Razor Annual Shi received her own series, Shi: The Way of the Warrior, which ran for 12 issues. The 12 issues were later collected into three trade paperbacks. The first series was followed by several limited mini-series: Shi: Senryaku (1995), Shi: Heaven and Earth (1997), and Shi: Akai (2001).

Shi has also appeared in several crossovers with characters from other publishers, including Lady Death, Daredevil, Vampirella and Cyblade. She is scheduled to appear in War of the Independents, a six-issue crossover mini-series featuring heroes from various publishers; it will be published by Arcana Studios.

Fictional character biography

Shi is a young woman named Ana Ishikawa. Her father Shiro is a Japanese warrior and her mother Catherine is an American Catholic missionary. As a child, Ana witnessed the brutal murder of her father and brother at the hands of an upstart Yakuza thug named Masahiro Arashi. After this, she swore revenge on the Yakuza and went out to become one of the deadliest assassins in the world. Ana was trained by her grandfather Yoshitora in the martial arts. In order to disguise herself, she painted her face white in order to resemble Tora No Shi ("Tiger of Death"), a legendary female warrior of medieval Japan. Ana herself gained the name "Shi" ("Death" in Japanese) for her ferocity and ruthlessness.

Bent on impressing the leaders of the Osaka crime syndicate, Arashi leaves a calling card with every murder he commits – a simple coin engraved with the kanji for death, Shi. Escaping the hitman, Ana is consequently spirited away and raised by her grandfather, Yoshitora amid the sacred temples of Kyoto. There Yoshitora secretly trains Ana in the ways of the Sohei so that she could seek out Arashi and avenge her family's honor.

Still clutching the coins left on the bodies of her brother and father, this vengeful obsession consumes Ana's very being as she completely gives herself to "Shi" - the living embodiment of Death, a demon who since childhood, has terrified while encouraging her in her crusade of vengeance.

However, Shi is soon confronted by her mother's Catholic teachings, and Ana's life soon becomes one of inner conflict between her programmed mission of revenge and the Christian faith she secretly harbors.

Eventually, her conscience forced her to rein in her bloodthirstyness; once her parent's killer Masahiro was finally sent to prison, Shi renounced killing and became the manager of a New York art gallery. From time to time she still takes on her Shi persona to aid the innocent.

Ironically, it is this duality that rages in Ana's soul that will not permit her to totally succumb to the death demon that terrorizes her. In the end, it is Ana's faith and the ethereal visions of her gallant Sohei ancestors that shepherd her along the Way of the Warrior. The series often touches on spiritual issues, especially as they pertain to Ana's dual background in the traditions of the yamabushi warrior monks, and Christianity.

Powers and abilities

Shi was trained by her grandfather to be a "sohei", a warrior of feudal Japan. As such, she is a skilled martial artist and swordsperson.

Appearances in other media

A film based on the original "Way of the Warrior" storyline was scheduled to begin production in 2000. William Tucci wrote the script, and Tia Carrere was attached to film to play Shi. However, production was halted and the film was never completed. Tucci continues to work on a possible "Shi" film with producer Mimi Polk Gitlin; no production or release date has been set.

Merchandise

Through William Tucci's Crusade Fine Arts, the multi-Eisner Award nominated Shi has been printed in four languages and has sold more than 4 million comic books and also grossed over 25 million dollars in prints, toys and other merchandise worldwide while garnering several international creative and printing awards.
---------------------

Publication history
William (Billy) Tucci is an illustrator, writer and filmmaker best known for his modern-day samurai fable Shi.

Career

Tucci created his own publishing company, Crusade Comics, through which he publishes both his personal projects, as well as work from other up and coming creators. Several comic characters, including Top Cow’s Witchblade and David Mack’s Kabuki, actually debuted in Shi.

Shi has been featured on FOX, NBC, and E! television while also gaining recognition in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal and USA Today. The character has also crossed over with many comic book icons including Daredevil, Witchblade, Vampirella and Wolverine. For more than two years Shi: The Way of the Warrior #1 remained atop Wizard Magazine's Top Ten Comics list, a record for any single issue that still stands to this day. Billy is also one of the few comic book creators recognized by Wizard on both their Top Ten Artists and Writers list.

In 2006 Tucci began doing work for the "Big Two" in the American comic book industry, pencilling Marvel Comics Heroes For Hire, and DC's VS cards. He also released the 576 page Definitive Shi, the Illustrated Warrior novel and penned Zombie-sama! with illustrator John Broglia.

In 2007, on Shi's 13th anniversary, Tucci's newest miniseries The Ring of Fire was released. Shi also had a crossover with Brian Pulido's Lady Death/Shi through Avatar Press and with Peter David's Fallen Angel through IDW. Dark Horse Comics is also producing a 200-page hardbound Art of Shi coffee table book showcasing several artists' take on the character. Other Shi projects include a full color Zombie-sama! TPB with John Broglia and Definitive Shi Vol. 2.

Tucci is writing the screenplay of the Shi movie with Kevin Bernhardt and will serve as executive producer. Tia Carrere will play the titular role of Shi. He also wrote, produced and directed his own award-winning short film, some trouble of a SeRRious nature.

Currently Tucci is working on DC's Sgt. Rock: The Lost Battalion miniseries, which is published in 2008.

Whiteout is a black and white limited series created by writer Greg Rucka and artist Steve Lieber. It was originally released in four issues during 1998, by Oni Press and then collected into a trade paperback.

Overview

The story follows Carrie Stetko, a U.S. Marshal working at McMurdo Station in Antarctica, and her investigation of a murder that takes place there. The story moves through many Antarctic stations, as Stetko chases down suspects and finds more murders. Early in the story, Steko is attacked by the killer and left for dead in a storm. She saves herself but loses two fingers due to severe cold-related injuries.

It was followed by a sequel, Whiteout: Melt. Stetko is sent back to Antarctica by the government, as she is familiar with the territory and there had been a mass murder. It turns out Russian mercenaries are on a rampage. Stetko and a rogue Russian intelligence officer must save the day.

A third volume in the series, originally advertised as Whiteout: Thaw, was expected to be released as four separate issues beginning in the Fall of 2007.[1] In December 2008, Rucker announced in a forum post that the title was changed to Whiteout: Night and the publication of the series would probably start in the Summer of 2009.[2]

The book once crossed over with Barry Ween, in a story illustrated by Judd Winick.

In 2000 Whiteout was nominated for Eisner Awards for Best Writer, Best Artist, Best Limited Series, and Best Graphic Album.

Whiteout is a 2009 feature film adaptation of the 1999 comic book Whiteout by Greg Rucka and Steve Lieber. The film is directed by Dominic Sena and stars Kate Beckinsale and Gabriel Macht in the lead roles. Whiteout is slated to be released on September 11, 2009.

Premise

A U.S. marshal (Kate Beckinsale), the only one assigned to Antarctica, must investigate a murder on the frozen continent within three days before the arctic winter begins. She crosses paths with a U.N. operative (Gabriel Macht), also investigating the murder.[2]

Cast

* Kate Beckinsale as Carrie Stetko, a U.S. marshal.

* Gabriel Macht as Robert Pryce, a U.N. operative.

* Alex O'Loughlin as a brazen pilot who gets in trouble with the marshal.

* Columbus Short as a novice pilot who helps the marshal in the investigation.

Production

In November 1999, Columbia Pictures acquired feature film rights to the comic book Whiteout by Greg Rucka and Steve Lieber. An adapted screenplay for the film was written by Jon and Erich Hoeber. The script was written to have a male character star opposite the female lead, since the studio was hesitant on how large of a film audience that the original setup of two female leads would draw. By November 2002, the studio placed the project on around after a lack of production, and the rights were acquired by Universal Studios. The studio cast Reese Witherspoon to star in Whiteout, which would be based on the screenplay written by the Hoebers. By May 2004, a second draft of the script had been written, and a director was still being sought. Ultimately, rights over the film changed ownership, detaching Witherspoon from the project.

In October 2006, Whiteout entered development at Dark Castle Entertainment with production slated to begin in the coming winter for a release date in the first quarter of 2008. Dominic Sena, a fan of the graphic novel since its '99 debut, had sought to acquire the rights to direct a film adaptation, and when rights were acquired by Dark Castle, Sena petitioned to producer Joel Silver, president of the company, for the opportunity to direct Whiteout.[11] In February 2007, with Warner Bros. signed on to distribute Whiteout, Sena was hired to direct the film, based on the adapted screenplay by the Hoebers. In the same month, Kate Beckinsale was cast in the lead role. Production began on March 5, 2007 in Manitoba, with latter footage being shot in Montreal. A set was also constructed on the shore of Lake Winnipeg.[13] The film was primarily set in a bright world of ice and sunlight, an unconventional approach to the murder mystery genre. Both real and fake snow were used in production. The author of the graphic novel, Greg Rucka, applauded the film adaptation of his source material. Filming concluded a few weeks before Comic-Con in July 2007.

Greg Rucka's writing career began with his Atticus Kodiak series. Kodiak is a bodyguard whose jobs are rarely as uncomplicated as they at first appear. The series to date consists of: Keeper, Finder, Smoker, Shooting at Midnight, Critical Space, and Patriot Acts. These works garnered Rucka much critical acclaim and comparisons to the elite writers of crime/suspense fiction. The "Atticus" novels are notable for their realism and attention to detail, which are partly a product of Rucka's fight training and experience as an EMT. He has also written three non-Atticus books: Fistful of Rain, A Gentleman's Game and Private Wars; the latter two are tie-ins to his comic book series Queen & Country.

In the 1990s, Rucka would hop onto the comic scene with his highly praised Whiteout, published through Oni Press. Whiteout focuses on a murder in an Antarctic base. It was followed by a sequel, Whiteout: Melt. Rucka would begin a pattern with this book: writing strong, independent woman characters. Queen & Country, dealing with British spies, is his longest and most personal work (also published by Oni).

Another poop spawned from boredom and a half-assed, barely-working piece of shit called Windows Movie Maker.
